Many companies are working a lot to discover medicine to cure skin cancer but they are not successful yet and research is still going on, but yet the results have not achieved.

Skin Cancer - Take care of following signs

Types of skin

The skin has two basic upper and exposed layers, which are dermis and epidermis. Epidermis is the uppermost layer and the dermis is the layer below epidermis. Below the dermis is the fat layer, which gives strength, cushioning and protection to the muscles and lower areas of the body. This is a matter of worry.

Types of cells in the epidermis

The epidermis has following types of cells:

  • Basal cells

These cells are at the bottom on the skin. They are the most unexposed cells and are part of the lower layer of the cells.

  • Keratinocytes

This is the upper layer, which are exposed to the environment and faces the wear and tear of the environment. This layer is rapidly dividing layer, because it has to endure the harsh environment. These cells produce keratin regularly and they are the most effected cells.

  • Melanocytes

These are present at the lower area of the epidermis, and they produce melanin, which is a pigment that protects the skin from the harms of the UV rays. The melanocytes of the dark people are very active whereas melanocytes of the white people become active when they are exposed to the UV rays and protect their skin.

Skin cancer

Cancer is basically a disease or you may call it an abnormality, which occurs at cellular level, where cells start dividing abnormally and then make clumps that destroy the normal cells as well, eventually making the situation worst in body which then leads to death because of toxic effects.

Two types of skin cancer are present:

  • Melanoma

These are nonmalignant and do not spread, they are more like tumors which could be removed easily from the body.

  • Non-melanoma

These are more common and are lethal at the same point.

They have been divided into following types:

  •  Basal cell carcinoma

It is the skin cancer that is developed from basal cells.

  • Squamous cell carcinoma

It is the type of cancer that develops from the abnormal multiplication of keratin cells.

  • Others

It is due to other cells of the skin.

All the skin cancers are curable if they are diagnosed at an early stage, but if they are not diagnosed then they could lead to death and deadly medical condition.

Treatment for melanoma:

Melanoma are treated easily and can be removed by simple surgeries. It spread to the other parts of the body rapidly that is why it has to be removed as soon as possible. If metastasis has occurred then chemotherapy, immunotherapy and radiotherapy is also required.

Treatment of non-melanoma:

These are curable, and their rate of curability is around 95%. They develop for long duration of time and they can be difficult to remove. But surgeries are possible at any stage and survival rate after surgeries is very high.

Signs of melanoma:

They can be diagnosed, by regular body check and checking moles and cyst on the body. These are the very early signs and they will be cured if urgent medical consultant is taken.

Skin cancers are common and should be avoided by decreasing the exposure to the sun. The more the exposure the more cancers will be developed.
